FAQs
What are the differences between volunteering and volunteering?
Volunteering and volunteering represent two forms of selfless commitment which do not cover the same situations. It is accepted that a volunteer is the person who undertakes, for a fixed period, to devote themselves entirely and selflessly to an action of general interest. Volunteering falls under public law status, which means that its performance gives rise to compensation. The volunteer, for his part, engages in a selfless activity, as part of his leisure or free time. His commitment may be one-off or regular, but he does not devote most of his time to it.
Training for volunteers?
An e-learning platform allows volunteers to train for free on different subjects: association projects, mobilizing volunteers, sources of financing, organizing an event, financial management of an association, etc. : formationsdesbenevoles.maam.fr
What does a volunteer actually do?
Within an association , a trade union or a public structure , there are volunteers in very varied fields of activity : sport, culture, leisure, humanitarian, health, social action, defense of rights, education, etc. Joining an association does not necessarily give you the role of volunteer.
Volunteer missions can take several forms:
- Administrative : organize volunteers' schedules, operate the association's hotline, manage the association's Facebook page, record invoices, etc.
- Animation : supervising sports training, leading a music workshop for elderly people, offering a tour of the city to newcomers, etc.
- Event : running the refreshment bar at a festival, putting up posters, running the association's stand at a forum, looking for artists for a concert, etc.
- Personal assistance : distributing meals to people in need, helping a child with their homework, giving computer lessons, helping people write their CVs, etc.
- Manual work : repairing household appliances, maintaining a collective garden, sorting donated clothing, etc.
Can a volunteer be paid?
No, the volunteer does not receive remuneration, he can be compensated for the costs incurred by his activity (travel, accommodation, etc. ) Volunteering is the situation in which a person provides free work for a person or an organization . Volunteering is therefore distinct from the work (or salaried) situation.
