Paying bank interest

Donate your bank interest to our association!

In accordance with the ethical principles of Islam, our association Sourire à Tous collects your interest to cover its administrative and banking costs, thus allowing the majority of your donations to be entirely donated to humanitarian projects .

---

Some organizations offer the possibility of collecting and donating your bank interest responsibly. For this process to be successful, it is important to follow a few key principles:

  • No personal gain
The interest collected must not be used to enrich any person or to cover private expenses. The sole purpose is to purify funds considered haram (forbidden) .

  • An act of purification, not a spiritual reward
Unlike traditional almsgiving, donating interest is not an act intended to obtain divine reward. It is primarily about purifying your financial resources and redirecting them towards legitimate causes.

  • Clearly define your intention
The primary motivation should be to divest from these illicit funds and allocate them to a useful and ethical purpose.

When are bank interest payments made?

Generally, the interest accrued on a savings account is credited at the end of the calendar year, around December 31st. The actual payment into your account is often made at the beginning of the following year, for example in January.

For those who follow Islamic principles, these funds must be purified , meaning they must be separated ethically and legally. Donating them to charities or other charitable causes is a recommended practice.
